Governance Workflow Notifications

🎉 What's new

Bringing governance closer to where you work! We’re expanding how notifications work in Governance Workflows—making it easier for both Approvers and Requesters to stay on top of critical tasks, directly in Slack or Email.

✨  Let's dig deeper

Email as a Notification Channel
  • Governance Workflow notifications can now be sent via email, alongside Slack
  • Provides another touchpoint for users to stay updated
Status Change Notifications for Requesters
  • Requesters will now receive notifications when their request moves to Approved, Rejected, or Archived
  • Eliminates the need for manual status checks, saving time and reducing friction
Workflow-level Notification Controls for Admins
  • Admins can now configure:
    • Which types of notifications to send (Task Assignments, Status Updates)
    • Which channels to send them on (Slack, Email)
  • These settings are configurable at the Workflow level, giving admins more granular control
  • This is the starting point—expect more notification types and channels to be added in future releases

👏 Give it a shot

Start configuring workflow-specific notifications and keep Requesters informed instantly via Slack and Email.

Access Management for Database & Schema

🎉 What’s New

A smarter way to request access! Users can now raise access requests at the database or schema level—eliminating the need to submit individual requests for each table or view. This makes access management faster, easier, and more scalable across large datasets.

📍 Request Access at a Higher Level

  • Raise access requests at the Database or Schema level instead of individual assets
  • Once approved, access is automatically granted to all child assets

⚙️ Configurable Access Management Workflows

  • Admins can set up workflows to:

    • Grant access directly in Atlan
    • Or trigger external access flows via Jira, ServiceNow, or Webhooks

🛠 Approvals & Controls

  • Approve or reject access requests at the database or schema level
  • Any user assigned as an approver—whether Admin, Member, or Guest—can take action
  • Admins can revoke access directly within Atlan or trigger revocation through connected source systems

🔔 Notifications & Tracking

  • Automated alerts for access and revoke events via Inbox or Slack
  • Full visibility into request status, who approved it, and when

👏 Give it a shot

This capability is now live in Public Preview for all organizations using Governance Workflows. Admins can immediately start using it in Access Management templates to speed up and simplify data access.

Products as metadata on asset sidebar and profile with the ability to filter

🎉 What's new

Introducing data product as metadata on asset search card, sidebar and profile! This feature helps reveal the data product that the asset is a part of. It also helps you see if the asset is an output port in those data products.

✨ Let's dig deeper

This feature can be availed if the products module is on from labs.

Once you search for an asset on the assets search page, you will notice the search card shows an new indicator on hover. This shows where all the asset is an output port. You can hover over this new indicator and navigate to the data products directly.

After you click on the asset to bring up the sidebar, you will see a new section on the sidebar saying, "Asset featured in" with a count of the number of products where the asset is present. This section lists the products where the asset is present. You can also click on the product here to navigate there directly.

Next, you can visit the asset profile to see a new section for data products. If you interact with the section, it brings up all the products that the asset is a part of in a carousel format.

Apart from all these features, you can now use the product to filter on the assets. This filter is present in the existing domain section.

👏 Give it a shot

Start supercharging your discovery experience with the powerful context of data products! Use those to filter and contextualize your assets. And as you try this, let us know what you think!

Real time connectors setup & monitoring experience improvements

🚀 What's new

Listeners, or real time connectors don't depend on workflows execution nor workflow scheduling to catalog assets and create lineage. Listeners listen to source and when a run is finished/executed Atlan receive events, these events are then processed by Atlan to create relevant assets & lineage.

For this reason, we have renamed connector that listen in real time to listeners (Airflow & Spark). We have also removed any workflow dependencies to avoid confusions.

Finally we have made debugging listeners connection easier where you will find a new tab in listener profile in workflow center where you can view the events that Atlan received for a specific connection.

Flexible Asset Scope in Policy Rules

🎉 What’s new

You can now define asset scope in policy rules using either:

  • Match All (AND condition): Assets must meet all selected criteria.
  • Match Any (OR condition): Assets can meet any of the selected criteria.

✨  Let's dig deeper

This enhancement eliminates the need for duplicating policies when asset selection requires OR logic—making policy management faster, simpler, and more flexible.

  • Save time: No more creating multiple policies for similar use cases.
  • Simplify configurations: Handle complex asset selection within a single policy.
  • Increase flexibility: Curate the exact asset scope you need with Match Any or Match All.

👏 Give it a shot

All users using the policy center, currently in public preview, can check out this feature! Join the conversation and help shape the future of policy center.

Customize metadata visibility with asset metadata preferences

🎉 What's new

Introducing preferences to control the visibility of asset metadata on your assets in Atlan. This allows you to customize the metadata shown to specific user personas, thus making the experience more contextual to what the user is interested in.

✨ Let's dig deeper

When you open any persona today, you can head over to the "Preferences" tab in  the persona. You will see a new "Asset metadata" section on the preferences.

This section allows you to customize visibility from the following metadata-

  • Certificate
  • Description
  • Domains
  • Linked Policies
  • Owners
  • Readme
  • Tags
  • Terms

Note- This impacts the assets page and the glossary (if persona switcher is turned on in labs for the glossary). This does NOT impact "all assets" experience i.e. if "all assets" is turned on in labs and is chosen on the persona selector, then the specific preferences for any persona will NOT be enforced.

👏 Give it a shot

Start customizing your users' metadata viewing experience today with asset metadata preferences. And while you try this, let us know what you think!

View badges on data products

🎉 What's new

Introducing badges on data products to translate your custom metadata to digestible, color-coded signals on data products. This will help you add traffic-light markers, status markers etc. to better represent your data products for your consumers.

✨ Let's dig deeper

When you create a new badge off a custom metadata that in turn has been configured on "data products", you will see the badge show up on the data product profile.

You can configure the badge colors and conditions which will reflect on the data products.

Please note that any previously configured badges will start showing up as well.

👏 Give it a shot

Help your consumers find and digest data products better with badges on products. And while you try this, let us know what you think!

View asset dependencies for cyclic lineage

🚀 What’s New

Cyclic lineage can be tricky, but we've got you covered! You can now view both downstream and upstream dependencies in cyclic relationships. This gives you full visibility into end-to-end lineage, ensuring better understanding.
