Date range filter for tracking requests

🎉 What's new

We have added a new date range filter to help you prioritize and manage your requests more effectively in Atlan. You can use the new filter from either the reporting or governance center to find requests within a specific date range and ensure their timely resolution.

A common request from data governance teams is the need to track service-level agreements (SLAs) associated with metadata update requests in Atlan. Data stewards can now use the date range filter to identify requests that have exceeded their SLA and knock out any high-priority or overdue items right away. Try it out and let us know what you think!

Chrome extension support for Redash

🎉 What's new

Atlan’s Chrome extension opens a sidebar within your Redash workspace and provides you with all the context you need, without having to switch tools.

Previously, users had to switch to Atlan for more information about their Redash assets — for example, who owns it and whether it is certified or not. Now you can use Atlan's Chrome extension to learn more about your queries, dashboards, and visualizations in Redash.

Enhancements to lineage graph

🎉 What's new

Two new visual enhancements to the lineage graph coming your way — a home icon to represent the originating asset and an Expand all option for a comprehensive view of upstream and downstream asset lineage.

These enhancements can help you better navigate the lineage graph and reduce the number of clicks required to view upstream or downstream assets.

For example, imagine that you're working with a data pipeline that involves many different nodes. You will be able to use the Expand all option to quickly see the entire path from the selected node to the leaf node — no need to click each intermediate node! Then, use the home icon to find your way back to where you started.

Stream query results for faster insights

🎉 What's new

We are excited to announce that Atlan now supports streaming query results. When querying in Insights, query results will arrive in batches as soon as they are fetched from the source. This means you no longer have to wait for the query run to be completed to view results!

Why should you be excited?

  • Streaming query results can help fetch data faster from the source.
  • Results will be shown in batches — get the popcorn ready!
  • You can also cancel the query as the results are streaming in if you accidentally started it — giving you more control.

👏 Give it a shot

Ever experienced long wait times for query results? This one's for you! With streaming query results, get helpful insights more quickly in Atlan.

Upgrades to guest user role

🎉 What's new

This one goes out to our guest users in Atlan — you will now be able to raise requests, share assets on Slack, and create and assign Jira tickets! We've expanded the range of capabilities of our guest users, empowering them to collaborate more meaningfully.

The following new capabilities are supported for our guest users:

  • Raise requests: Once enabled by admins, guest users will be able to raise requests for metadata updates on assets. Guest users will no longer be able to make asset updates through personas, purposes, or policies.
  • Raise Jira tickets: Guest users will be able to create and link Jira tickets in Atlan — making it easier to report issues or ask questions about assets.
  • Share assets on Slack: Guest users will be able to share assets over Slack — improving communication between teams.

Discover dbt sources in Atlan!

🎉 What's new

We're excited to announce that Atlan now supports dbt sources! With this release, you can discover and document sources for your dbt assets in Atlan.

Here's what you can do:

  • Discover dbt sources and source metadata for materialized tables in Atlan — you can either crawl dbt or wait for the next automated sync to view them.
  • Document dbt source metadata and use Atlan as a single source of discovery for all your dbt assets.

Currently, dbt source metadata is only supported for table assets.

👏 Give it a shot

From discovering to documenting dbt sources, there is so much for you to check out! Also, keep an eye out for upcoming enhancements — dbt source metadata for column assets, and lineage and additional metadata like freshness status for dbt sources.
