If your column data type is stored in a standard format (like string) but you’d like a secondary data type, you can now use the new Atlan function to attach an inferred data type for columns. This will help you use Visual Query Builder with ease.
For example, if your column contains a date, but is stored in a string data type. Now, you will be able to infer this column as a date data type.
Useful filters have been added to the Personas and Purposes section in the Governance Center to give better visibility into policies and permissions. These will help you find what’s important to you.

You'll now be able to monitor user-level contributions to asset enrichment in Atlan like adding and updating descriptions, classifications, owners, and custom metadata properties across all your assets.
Our new widgets also allow you to monitor metadata updates and additions over time for various types of metadata.
You'll be able to find answers to questions like “which users have curated the most descriptions in Atlan in the last 7 days?” and ”how many tables were verified in the last two weeks?” through Reporting Centre!

In the age of cloud, discovering data assets in your on-premise systems has been a big challenge and we have been hearing our customers looking for a solution for this connection paradigm. Given that a lot of legacy data assets tend to reside in these on-prem systems, it’s critical to catalog and build governance around these assets.
We had earlier solved for on-premise installations of MySQL and Postgres which was loved by our customers and based on popular demand, we are now building support for Oracle on-premise databases.
Now you can ingest Oracle on-premise databases and see them in Atlan with full lineage capability. This will help in solving major use-cases like legacy system discovery and migration.
With our new release, users will be able to create a new copy of the policy action for Personas & Purposes.
Sometimes users want to use a policy that they've set up previously with minor tweaks. Copying the Person or Purpose will add this flexibility!
Vertica is a source for Atlan and has SQL assets like databases, schema, and tables. Until now, Vertica would have been discoverable only as a generic type without its own icons.
With this release, Vertica assets will now be distinctly discoverable with their own branding.
Note:
- The typedef currently solves discovery and metadata management use cases, it does not have a marketplace package, support for querying assets, or lineage capabilities.
- Lineage consumption use cases can be driven using the API.
Preset is built on top of Apache Superset - one of the fastest growing modern data visualizations platforms.
This release enables Atlan users to start cataloging and discovering Preset assets like Preset Workspaces, Dashboards, Datasets, and Charts. Preset will get support via all API-powered use cases like Lineage as well.
With our new update, we are bringing Glossaries that are now discoverable on the assets page.
Earlier, it wasn't possible to search Glossaries via Atlan's search and filtering capabilities. So while you could find terms and categories by searching for them in Assets or pulling up CMD + K, you had to go to Glossary and find every glossary in the sidebar.
We want all users to be able to search for any asset and leverage search as a single solution, bringing Glossaries in search allows that.
