Rich text properties on custom metadata

🎉 What’s new

Now introducing Rich Text properties in custom metadata!
You can now create and apply rich, formatted content directly within your metadata properties—bringing deeper context and clarity to your data assets, beyond what the README can capture.

✨ Let’s dig deeper

With this update, you can define a new type of custom metadata property: Rich Text. This allows users to attach detailed documentation, descriptions, and policies in a structured, readable format.

Here’s how it works:

🧱 Create a Rich Text Property

  • Head to Custom Metadata configuration
  • Add a new property and set its Type to Rich Text
  • Give it a name like “Data Policy” or “Governance Notes”

📝 Enrich Assets with Context

  • Once set up, this property becomes available across all relevant assets
  • Users can now add and view formatted content directly from the asset sidebar
  • This includes bullets, bold text, headers, and more

📄 Use Cases

  • Define data usage policies or stewardship guidelines
  • Document data quality considerations per asset
  • Add project-specific context without cluttering the README

Note: These properties are filterable (with empty, non-empty operators) and governed just like other metadata properties.

👏 Give it a shot

Start setting up your own rich text metadata properties today to bring more meaning and documentation directly into your data assets.
Less hunting for docs, more context—right where you need it.
