Request Access to Data Products is live!

You can now configure governance workflows in Atlan to manage access requests for data products, bringing the same powerful approval capabilities you know and love to your most valuable, curated assets.

Data products are increasingly central to how organizations deliver trusted, business-ready data. With this update, you can now apply the same access control workflows to data products that were previously available for SQL and BI assets.

🔓 Request Access with a Click

You can now bring data products in your list of assets when you configure a data access governance workflow.

Once you configure a governance workflow for a data product(s), users will see a "Request data access" button on the data product profile—just like for other governed assets. Clicking this initiates a data access workflow.

⚙️ Powered by Governance Workflows

These requests are handled by governance workflows, where you can:

• Define approval conditions
• Set manual or auto-approval paths
• Route requests through teams or individuals for review
• Fulfill access via external tools like JIRA, ServiceNow, or webhooks

This ensures that access to sensitive or business-critical data products is tightly governed and auditable.
